About St Peregrine
St. Peregrine Laziosi (1265 - 1345) was a Servite priest (Order of the Servants of Mary) who was the victim of a spreading cancer in his leg. The disease was so painful and foul that he was scheduled for an amputation.
Peregrine spent the night before the operation in prayer, both for his leg to be saved, and, if God chose this suffering for him to bear, that he would receive it with humility and trust.
In answer to his prayer, Peregrine received a vision of Christ who touched the diseased area of his leg. The next morning, Peregrine found his cancer completely healed. Ever since, St. Peregrine has been the patron saint of cancer patients, skin diseases, AIDS sufferers, and the sick. His feast day is May 1st. (Prayers to St Peregrine)
